Betty Friedan – She Really Changed Us (lecture)

Fifty years ago Peoria’s own Betty Friedan wrote the book that opened doors for generations of women: The Feminine Mystique. It is widely regarded as one of the most influential books ever written, and Friedan herself is considered to be among history’s most important women. What was Peoria’s role in shaping her? What do we know about this woman who emerged from among us? What have we misunderstood? What is her lasting legacy? Barb Drake interviewed Friedan for The Journal Star and a WTVP Legend Special. She will provide insights into the woman and her work and how it changed us all.
